Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be a resource to project and design engineering and manufacturing organizations, including process vendors and component suppliers, in order to effectively produce competitive engine and environmental control systems.

  • Approving engineering standard work, change requests, and process certification and part qualification.

  • Evaluating and supporting production methods and materials, e.g., responding to supplier requests for information, and complying with environmental regulations by identifying and managing materials of concern.

  • Activities include general metallurgy support to the business enterprises, and executing the materials engineering design standard work activities.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working in the aerospace industry and within the materials engineering discipline.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; specifically, materials and processes drawing notes and definitions.

  • Familiarity with laboratory test methods and characterization techniques, including quality assurance procedures and failure analysis approaches.

  • Knowledge of metals and metal joining and forming techniques, e.g., welding and brazing, and casting and forging, respectively.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and function as part of interdisciplinary teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university is required.
