National Lutheran Communities and Services Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in Winchester, Virginia

We are currently looking for PRN CMA’s. We are also enhancing our PRN rates in lieu of benefits.

Core Competencies:

Reporting to the RN Staff Nurse, the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) provides services to include medication administration and personal care services. Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures of NLCS and applicable state/federal regulations Determines and records effectiveness of medications in a timely and accurate manner as required by state and federal regulations Observes, records and reports to the Charge Nurse symptoms and conditions of residents that could be related to medication interactions, adverse drug reactions or medication side effects Monitors medications to ensure adequate accountability measures are taken when medications are ordered, received into the facility, administered and at change of shift as required by policies and procedures of NLCS and applicable state/federal regulations Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner in accordance with established policies and procedures of NLCS and applicable state/federal regulations Routinely inspects, cleans and monitors equipment and supplies to ensure resident safety. Reports any equipment or supply issues to the Charge Nurse for correction or repair Makes walking rounds with previous and oncoming shifts; gives and participates in report Obtains, records and reports vital signs as indicated during the administration of medications Assists the supervising charge nurse in preparing residents and their charts for physician visits Performs other duties as assigned LEARNING

Specifically, the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is required for the following:

Attends and participates in facility training programs as scheduled, to include In-Service Training. Fulfills monthly educational obligations Able to complete company training courses online, including online quizzes Must be a self-learner Participates in classes in personal effectiveness as appropriate Completes classes necessary to maintain licenses JOB QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent required Certification as Certified Nurse Assistant and Certified Medication Aide approved by the Board of Nursing Possess knowledge of safe medication administration techniques Experience in a Long Term Care setting preferred Ability to follow written and oral instructions Ability to communicate and work with persons of varying educational and cultural backgrounds
