UTC Aerospace Kidde is seeking for Supplier Quality Engineer in Wilson, NC, to manage a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and a Team of Receiving and Inspectors that works with in the Aerospace Fire Suppression Industry and suppliers.

This position manages employees performing supplier quality activities and receiving inspection activities to ensure that suppliers' production and quality systems, special processes, products and services meet purchase contract requirements and applicable regulatory agency and government regulations.

  • Lead supplier development strategy, designing the metrics for the function and supplier performance

  • Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP).

  • Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements

  • Support Purchasing with the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks

  • Support new product launches to ensure suppliers are capable of delivering to the required quality standards

  • Manage the root cause analysis and corrective actions process of supplier quality issues

  • Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions of supplier quality issues

  • Review and evaluate supplier quality data to identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain

  • Where appropriate work with the supplier directly, create corrective action plans to address process failures

  • Review supplier manufacturing processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities

  • Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

  • Manage the development and refinement of Design and Process FMEAs (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

  • Review documentation of inspection results across all areas. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, PPAP approval or product warrant submission

  • Monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance understanding any commercial issues and impacts

  • Manage the Supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Manage customer PPM (Parts per Million), supplier PPM, supplier problem solving on time, cost recovery and supplier warranty indicators

  • Lead quality audits for suppliers

  • Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management System (AS9100/ISO9001)

  • Implementing, monitoring, approving and/or closing FAI approvals, UPPAP requirements, sampling plans, and projects in the supply base. Report outs on plan and progress will be made to executive team on a regular basis. Travel will be required to aid supplier in training and closing actions.

  • Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, measurement systems analysis, process control plans, process flows, key process input/output analysis, and first article reports (AS9102).

  • Responsibilities will also include supporting/leading supplier quality meetings/reviews and weekly stand up meetings in front of Quality & Supply Chain Leadership. Manage Supplier Performance Review Board (SPRB) and related activities in conjunction with the Supply Chain department.

  • Responsible for Supplier Quality improvement projects with the target to close the gap on best in class processes. These projects will include Dock to Stock, DSQR, Report Cards, Quality Clauses, Receiving Inspection, SCAR, SIR, etc

Qualification: Basic Qualification:

  • 3 years of Supply Quality Engineering experience related to manufacture of Aerospace components, Automotive structures or Department of Defense

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of operations leadership roles with experience in a Quality leadership position desired.

  • A strong background in QMS and application of measurement, analysis & CI tools.

  • Strong operations background suitable to the facility production processes.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, RCCA.

  • 4 - 7 years of experience in engineering or quality engineering field related to the manufacture of Aerospace Components, Automotive Structures or Department of Defense.

  • Experience in quality system, project management, product, or technical process.

  • Strong P.C. skills.

  • Strong communication skills and experience with cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability.

  • Experience with advanced aerospace components manufacturing, machining, and assembly.

  • Experience with quality management system auditing and inspection of aerospace products is desirable.

  • Experience working with and communicating with senior leaders and executives.

  • Demonstrated work experience in Supplier Quality.

Education: Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering/Business Management, Quality or equivalent degree
