Position Purpose & Summary

This position is responsible for the initial deployment and ongoing operation of Cargill’s global financial control framework across specific Cargill operations within the region. Works across businesses and functions to design and implement critical financial controls that meet Cargill’s global control objectives. This role will work closely with the Controls COE in the deployment of the financial control framework to enable visibility into current state end-to-end processes and key controls, as well as assess risk related to Cargill’s global control objectives. Once the control framework is deployed, this position will be responsible for the ongoing operation of sustainable financial control monitoring processes and the reporting of the status of financial controls to the NA Controls Lead. This position plays a critical role to assess the effectiveness of controls and ensure achievement of Cargill’s global financial control objectives during a dynamic time of change.

Principal Accountabilities

50% Deploy Control Framework

  • Partner with Controls COE to implement and monitor the global control framework

  • Collaborate across region to create and leverage best practices

  • Partner with other Regional A&F domains to understand risk profiles of specific businesses

  • Work closely with Tax, Treasury, Corporate A&F, Risk Management Group, internal and external auditors, as well as all business areas, such as plant operations, sourcing, sales & marketing, origination, trading, etc.

25% Assess and Report Risk

  • Systematically assess risk related to Cargill’s global financial control objectives

  • Evaluate identified control deficiencies and associated risk

  • Design and implement controls that are responsive to assessed risks

  • Ensure effective controls for significant business developments such as shared service transitions, ERP implementations, and acquisitions/divestitures

  • Partner with Controls COE & audit teams to understand and address financial control risk areas

  • Partner cross-enterprise to leverage and share best practices and ensure consistency in risk assessment

  • Facilitate risk-based discussions with internal audit

25% Monitor and Improve Financial Controls

  • Operate ongoing financial control monitoring processes

  • Partner with cross-business and function teams to address financial control gaps across the region

  • Identify opportunities for control efficiencies/rationalization in finance processes

  • Partner with the appropriate business and functional areas to monitor controls of new business developments or in implementing new controls.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 7 years of accounting or finance experience in leadership positions, including minimum of 2 years with controls/compliance

  • Strong accounting experience with solid technical knowledge

  • Demonstrated change agility

  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to communicate, influence and build trust across multiple stakeholder groupsProven accounting/finance leader with strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and use technology to improve process and control

  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • English Proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Professional accounting designation

  • Experience with SOX compliance

  • Demonstrated ability to create a team culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and intellectual curiosity

  • Understanding and experience working with JDE, SAP, and AS400

  • Experience with multiple businesses and/or international business experience
