Program Management facilitates the evolution of Program Sales through the business life cycle. The Program Manager ensures customer and business expectations are satisfied through the coordination of the development and production activities. The group maintains the business process for managing programs and leads in the communication and implementation to all leadership levels.
The Program Manager is the process expert who drives On Time Delivery (OTD) to customer due dates by facilitating resolution to all issues throughout the value stream. This position is an ambassador for change and facilitates continuous improvement activities to standardize work and eliminate waste wherever possible. Program managers own the process end-to-end.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish project plans for Programs, including scope, schedule, and budget.
Lead assigned team members in cross-functional teams to achieve program commitments.
Recruit additional team resources as necessary to support specific project or program objectives.
Identify, monitor, and manage program critical path – report issues to leadership
Consult with cross-functional team members, individual contributors, department managers, and senior management to resolve issues.
Maintain program details and provide summary reports to management and team constituency.
Exercise appropriate influence throughout the organization to drive effective decision-making.
Identify business process deficiencies and lead ad-hoc Continuous Improvement Teams through their analysis, recommendations and new process implementations.
Coach, influence, and mentor the team to move forward – help everyone understand their priorities
Provide cost management and challenge cost changes to protect program margins
Drive improvements to increase customer value and reduce cycle times
Use visual management and strategic KPI’s to benchmark and monitor performance
Maintain transparency with supported account team(s) - and ensure customer visibility to program status.
Remain flexible and quickly adapt to delivery challenges – manage and impact the outcome and consequences
KNOWLEDGE and CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor’s degree in technical program or project management or significant relevant experience
Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Strong written and verbal communications.
Competent use of the MS Office Suite applications.
Broad functional knowledge with experience using ERP/MRP systems.
Knowledge of Lean Improvement strategies with demonstrated experience
PMI Certification a plus.
Automotive manufacturing knowledge.
LEAN training, including 5S and Value Stream mapping.
Effective leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills to all levels of the organization
Demonstrated project management skills
Ability to solve problems and improve processes within an office environment
Computer skills: Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, Visio, Baan/other ERP system
Must be self-motivated, well organized, results oriented
Proven ambassador for change with impactful results
Ability to relentlessly pursue continuous improvement.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
