SEM-Hatch is a joint venture between Hatch Ltd. and Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. providing engineering, construction and project management services in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. SEM-Hatch is performing Engineering and Project Management Services for the Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion project. Our client is now ready to initiate the construction phase of an underground mine. This mine expansion project is expected to produce about 40,000 tonnes of nickel per year and extend the life of the Voisey’s Bay operation until at least 2032. We are interested in receiving resumes for an Automation and Process Control Specialist at site.

Responsibilities / tasks

  • Work and communicate positively in a team based environment to ensure conformance with safety, quality, engineering standards, schedule and budgetary restraints.

  • Ensure in the successful execution of the Project within budget and on schedule, through budgeting, planning and tracking the work performed according to the site procedures.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Contractors, Vendors and field engineering team.

  • Manage daily activities of Vendors and Contractors.

  • Support design, change management and develop construction work packages.

  • Work closely with the construction/commissioning managers and home engineering team.

  • Manage Control and Automation related field work including site acceptance tests, punch lists and compliance sign off.

Qualifications

  • Strong personal commitment to Safety and Quality.

  • Hands-on experience in construction and commissioning related to mining, power plants, material handling, conveying, automation and control, instrumentation, communication and IT.

  • Experience in Leadership/project management (similarities already identified above).

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams, contractors and vendors.

  • Related Engineering Degree in (Electrical, Chemical, Mechatronics) and should be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), eligible for PEGNL .

  • Work experience with EPCM and mining or heavy industrial organizations preferred.

  • Knowledge of design tools and software.

  • Knowledge of industry regulatory codes and standards and engineering best practices.

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on and applicable experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office
