Boca Raton Community Hospital Home Health Aide - Per Diem in United States

Position Summary:

  • Provides assistance with activities of daily living while maintaining a clean safe environment, and other activities as instructed by a licensed health professional

  • Position Expectations & Responsibilities:

  • Have basic mathematical skills

  • The ability to follow geographical directions.

  • Provide personal care activities contained in a written assignment by a licensed health professional employee which include: assisting the patient with personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, dressing, shaving and physical transfer.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, healthy environment for patients, which may include light cleaning and straightening of the bathroom, straightening the living and sleeping areas, washing the patient's dishes and/or laundry and such tasks to maintain cleanliness and safety for the patient.

  • Record personal health care activities.

  • Observe appearance and gross behavioral changes in the patient or client and reports to the RN.

  • Adhere to Home Health standards for supervising self-administered medication in the home.

  • Assist with nutrition and hydration needs.

  • Supervise self-administered medication in the home

  • Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics.

  • Recognize the influence of beliefs and cultures on behaviors and accept strengths and limitations in others.

  • Exhibit adaptability, flexibility, self control and maturity in work and behavior.

  • Exhibit calm responsiveness to emergency or stressful situations.

  • Recognize situations that require notification of supervisor.

  • Have the ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Communicate verbally and in legible writing in the English language in a manner that can be understood.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 40-hour training program with a documented AHCA curriculum

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Heartsaver AED certification from the American Heart Association BLS

  • Minimum 3-hour Aids/HIV training certificate (upon hire)

  • 1 to 2 years Home Health care experience preferred

*Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.**
