Meggitt PLC Sr. Supplier Development Engineer in US, California

The Senior Supplier Development Engineer will work directly with various suppliers to resolve a wide range of complex supplier issues that are impacting customer delivery and quality ratings. The Senior Supplier Development Engineer will play a vital role in holding suppliers accountable and drive daily actions, effective RCCA, delivery schedules and provide daily report out to Supply Chain and Supplier Quality departments. The Senior Supplier Development Engineer first area of focus will be taking on an immediate leadership role in working with Casting and Machine house suppliers in resolving immediate quality issues that are impacting on time delivery and quality products for one of the high profile customer programs.
Job Core Responsibilities
Supplier Quality responsibilities include but is not limited to:
Resolves quality issues with effective containment and RCCA with main focus on casting and machine level.
Leads the selection, development, verification, validation and qualification of current and new casting and machined product suppliers.
Performs Quality Assurance Systems Audits, reviews and validate methods per applicable procedures including Special Processes NADCAP Certification.
Participates in PPAP Key Quality Element development, i.e Process Flows, FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Assessments, Production Monitoring and ZDP deployment at suppliers.
Improves and resolves supplier quality issues with welding and NDE processes.
Drives process improvement with weld repair and schedules per Meggitt, Customer and AWS D17.1 Welding Standard.
Acts as one of the key members in Material Review Board meetings for disposition of Supplier nonconforming products including weld repair approvals, casting related nonconformance such as porosity, penetration, shrinkage cavities, fusion and etc. per Meggitt drawing and Welding Standard AWS D17.1.
Acts as a liaison between Supply Chain, Supplier Quality and Quality Engineering departments to drive daily actions with supplier and provide daily report out to the cross functional departments.
Supply Chain responsibilities include but is not limited to:
Resolve issues that are impacting supplier on time delivery performance.
Working with suppliers to develop quality and lead time improvement programs, as appropriate.
Must have experience in tooling design and the foundry process.
Have the capability to tell the difference between a weld defect and cosmetic defect in a casting.
Must have extensive experience within the technical and operational areas of the metals manufacturing in casting and machining industries.
Maintaining the supply base in balance with the needs of multiple value streams within our business, ensuring appropriate balance of capacity and flexibility.
Act as a liaison between purchasing and planning by either pushing or pulling in outstanding purchase orders.
Working closely with suppliers to develop our supplier certification/supplier excellence process.
Expedite and confirm delivery of all open purchase orders to ensure timely arrival of materials to support production schedules.
Developing and publishing supplier performance reports, quarterly business reviews and implementation supplier excellence program.
Liaising with suppliers regarding lead times and product availability.
Performs other duties and assignments as assigned.
Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Quality Engineering or equivalent experience
Education Level: (Preferred): Master Degree Materials / Metallurgical Engineering
Field of Study/Area of Experience: Quality Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Design Engineering
10+ years of Quality Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent experience
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Supply chain, Purchasing, Planning experience or knowledge
Casting and Machining Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification/Experience
Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Certification/Experience

Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certifications
APQP/PPAP Training Certification
Regulated Industries (e.g., food, aerospace, transportation, biotech)
Welding Engineer Certification
