Assoc Director/Learning Partner, Global Support Functions Learning Programs
The Global Support Functions (GSF) Learning Programs Learning Partner supports and facilitates learning and development activities for the GSF for key programs that are aligned to the business and corporate strategy to develop leaders and employees. The role supports the execution of the GSF learning strategy through consulting and delivery on appropriate learning solutions. S/he interacts with and influences HR Business Partners, Leadership L&D, within GSF L&D, and with leaders and managers within GSF to ensure learning solutions continue to support and drive desired outcomes. Success in this role depends on the candidate’s ability to translate the learning strategy by managing, executing, and supporting the agile design and delivery of learning solutions that impact GSF business.
Lead learning and development activities for existing GSF-wide learning programs, including, and not limited to Enterprise Leader, Build the Best Teams and Talent, and Safe by Choice
Oversight, planning, and program level management for professional, management and leadership offerings on behalf of GSF Learning & Development (in conjunction with LL&D and all of global learning)
Lead collaborative efforts with stakeholders to define desired performance outcomes; provide feedback and coaching on issues related to learning programs and policies
Facilitate delivery of learning solutions to the business, as appropriate
Monitor, analyze, interpret, and report internal trends; make recommendations for learning solutions, as appropriate
Remain current on learning and development related tools, techniques, strategies and practices in order to provide relevant, informed consultative advice to clients; share leading learning practices with teams and stakeholders
Ensure successful learning outcomes by directing the identification and translation of the client’s learning needs into a defined learning strategy and implemented solutions
Act as a liaison between the Learning Support Services function and stakeholders to ensure alignment with learning needs; Ensure learning solutions created meet the requirements of the learning strategy; Identify alternate non-training solutions when appropriate
Deliver training and/or support local SMEs providing training, as needed
Partner with Learning Support Services (LSS) on the design of the learning solutions, utilizing agile approach; Interpret and discuss feedback with stakeholders, and monitor impact and cost-effectiveness of learning solutions to ensure desired return on intervention; Suggest improvements to further enhance learning program effectiveness and sustainability
Report timely feedback on learning effectiveness to the business and communicate suggestions for greater business impact.
Document needs for customization or localization of learning programs. Leverage Merck-wide management, leadership, and professional offerings and enhance with elements from GSF to ensure strong connectivity to leader competencies.
Coach Learning Consultants and Learning Specialists and provide them with opportunities to grow their leadership, professional, and technical skills
Performance consult with GSF L&D, GSF HR Business Partners, and within Global Learning and Development to ensure that all GSF learning solutions are aligned with the Merck-wide strategy for leader and employee development

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Advanced ability to use a broad range of methods, assumptions, frameworks, and perspectives when solving problems and making decisions, including advanced measurement to insure we have the information we need to determine the intervention that will provide the greatest return and business impact.
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Advanced project planning and management experience, including the ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1–2 years), and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the business plan
L&D Policies, Standards, and Procedures: Knowledge of and ability to use industry and organization standards, procedures, and policies relevant to staff learning and development
Adult Learning: Theory and Practice: Advanced experience in applying concepts and practices of adult learning to meet the dynamic needs of the business
Learning Needs Analysis: Advanced experience in assessing competency gaps, identifying what people need to learn for successful individual and organizational performance, and understanding of solution design options to build skills and competencies
Facilitation: Ability to effectively deliver or facilitate programs in face-to-face and virtual sessions
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in the areas of learning, talent, HR, or comparable area.
Experience in Global Support Functions, experience in leadership and talent learning and development.
Project Management of Learning Programs.
