Phoenix Houses of California is seeking Supervising Counselors to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate aspects of the Chuckawalla Valley and Ironwood State Prison programs. The role provides indirect supervising of all staff as well as developing and administering policies and procedures, and reporting directly to the Program Director.
The Supervising Counselor is to also provide oversight and monitor record keeping , debrief counselors on treatment processes, monitor treatment plan development, and implement/monitor program educational activities.
High Desert State Prison is an adult all-male facility.
This is a hard-to-fill employee refer eligible role.

•Must be certified as an AOD counselor, with a certifying organization recognized by DHCS
•Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field and one (1) year of experience providing SUDT services to the offender population at a responsibility no less than a Journey Level Counselor – OR – Associates Degree and three (3) years of experience providing SUDT services to the offender population at a responsibility no less than a Journey Level Counselor
•Minimum of one (1) year of documented verifiable supervisory experience; including supervision of Entry Level and Journey Level Counselors
•Past exposure and strong knowledge of CBT programs
•Experience in working collaboratively with CDCR and institution staff
•Familiarity in supervising the administration of the introduction and assessment processes of all clients arriving at the Program
•Past involvement supervising the Entry and Journey Level Counselor's activities
•Past experience securing storage of client records and Participant treatment files
