Role Summary/Purpose

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity, executing short-term/long term Sourcing Strategy, delivering Sourcing Metrics. In this role you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day short-term objectives

and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. The Purchasing Agent will have significant opportunity to demonstrate creative problem-solving, communication and sourcing process skills in a complex, region / global and fast-paced environment.

Ensure the most efficient implementation of sourcing strategies and business results for the targeted platforms, with the overall goal of minimizing the total cost of transactions, while orders are delivered on time and are of high quality.

The role will ensure compliance with sourcing procedures and policies across the team. Understanding and identifying any other process gaps in vendor management, translating those into problem statements for organization continuous improvements.

Essential Function

  • Ensure compliance with sourcing policies and procedures

  • Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for Outage & Construction commodities, during outage execution and preparation phase

  • Engage in outage planning with the Event management team and participate in region tender/meetings when required.

  • Identify site specific buys and manage the supply base for the assigned areas

  • Identify new/alternate supplier, obtaining quotes through competitive bidding and owning suppliers (add/reduction process)

  • Lead competitive negotiations to drive deflation within the regional supply base. Manage supplier contracts, supply agreements with preffered suppliers in the region to ensure that market trends, supplier performance and future business needs are aligned

  • Lead and drive strategic initiatives on Days to Pay improvement, Supplier rationalization, sole source reduction, fulfillment improvement, COF recovery & QMS compliance

  • Responsibility for leading cost savings initiatives in the region. Monitor heavy spend items and collaborate with global strategic team to suggest alternative approaches to reduce cost. Track year over year savings/costs for high spend commodities

  • Participate in cross functional meetings with Quality, Process Improvement, AP and other areas to streamline all Sourcing activitie

  • Review, evaluate and monitor purchase requisitions for proper authorization, specifications and compliance

  • Perform other duties as assignedQualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Sourcing / Supplier development or Field Services working for an Industrial or Power Generation

  • Experienced in Power plant outage execution & familiar with Outage / Construction commodities management

  • Experience with procurement and purchasing systems is requiredDesired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures, including vendor qualification and performance monitoring

  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills and strong results oriented aptitude

  • Advanced computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office suite, excel in particular and ERP systems (SAP & Oracle)

  • Attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Skillful in establishing and maintaining working relationships with departments and suppliers

  • Familiarity with Accounts Payable concepts and general working of Accounting

  • Superior ability to influence peers and subordinates as part of leadership of a small group

  • Minimal travel required – 5 to 10%

  • English proficiency required
