POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for monitoring workplace activities as well as developing and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. In this role, a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality is required while administering safety programs for an electrical construction project in the Springfield, NE area. This role may require a second shift schedule of Monday through Friday 5pm to 2:30am and Saturday 3:30pm to 12am.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Attend daily safety meetings and pre-job briefings.

  • Attend bi-weekly toolbox talks on specific topics.

  • Conduct safety trainings and orientations.

  • File all required documentation regarding the scope of the project.

  • Educate workers about the Company's Safety policy and procedures.

  • Identify and mitigate potential hazards, such as slippery floors and faulty equipment.

  • Ensure workers are wearing the proper PPE.

  • Assist in developing and implementing safety and loss prevention programs.

  • Monitor safety performance of on-site workers to determine vulnerability.

  • Identify and remove unsafe or hazardous materials from job sites prior to each shift when necessary.

  • Inspect workplace and premises at beginning of each day to make sure it is safe for operation.

  • Perform inspection on machinery, equipment and tools that workers will use to ensure they are safe to operate.

  • Inspect safety of ladders and scaffolding. Ensure workers over 6 feet tall are tied off and secure from fall hazards.

  • Perform accident investigations to gage measures that need to be taken to prevent them from reoccurring.

  • Write detailed reports on daily activities, inspections and on-site accidents.

  • Conduct safety audits on a periodic basis.

  • Ensure storage of hazardous materials and dangerous equipment in specially designated storage areas.

  • Communicate essential safety standards to workers during each walkthrough stage.

  • Make recommendations for system and process improvement.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of construction safety experience.

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management or related field preferred.

  • Safety experience within the electrical construction industry preferred.

  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the safety industry.

  • Demonstrates industry knowledge and independent judgment to make decisions.

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with individuals with a variety of backgrounds.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • This position operates at a job site and is exposed to hazards typical of a construction site.

  • This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, copiers and fax machines.

  • Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl.

  • This position requires the ability to stand frequently and bend occasionally.

  • This position may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Must wear hard hat and work boots.
