Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer supports production, including problem solving and maintenance of all process equipment and documentation. This position involves close interaction with all engineering disciplines and hourly functions. Ability to work in a team environment is a must. Applicant must be comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. A strong and systematic commitment to continuous improvement and root cause corrective action is required.

Production Support

  • Lead electromechanical troubleshooting of product and support equipment

  • Work with Facilities Personal to keep an up-to-date inventory of essential spare parts and Preventative Maintenance Schedule

  • Participate in FMEA’s, EH&S reviews, and investigations of component failures

  • Lead efforts for approval of new processes and associated documentation

  • Provide training for employees on assigned tasks and projects

  • Coordinate schedules and work required with associates to complete tasks on time

  • Resolve production stoppages in a timely manner to minimize impact on production

  • Respond promptly to on-call support requests


  • Responsible for all aspects of the Assembly Process, including tooling; written instructions; equipment operation, upkeep, and maintenance; and Process Documentation

  • Work with Product Engineering and Assembly Area Personnel to develop efficient methods for assembling product

  • Design or specify test/production equipment, as required

  • Maintain/complete all required Manufacturing Engineering documentation including process sheets, engineering changes, operation sheets, and NCM documentation\

  • Maintain configuration control of all operation sheets on the production floor, releasing changes in a controlled and timely manner

  • Attend daily production meetings

  • Record all non-conformances as they occur

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify cost/time -savings and quality improvement projects in assigned areas and drive them from concept through implementation, working with other disciplines, as needed

  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

  • Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling and equipment to ensure efficient production methods

  • Log and measure non-value added work due to process inefficiencies, CoPQ, and equipment issues

  • Compile data for monthly CoPQ reviews including improvement plans

  • Provide input into weekly Operations reviews


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing requiredMust be able to support on-call responsibilities during off-shift hours

  • Experience with manufacturing technology/concepts and cost reductions

  • Knowledge in electro-mechanical components

  • Experience with reading and writing electrical and mechanical P&IDs

  • Experience with various PLC software (especially Allen Bradley), including diagnosing issues through ladder logic and setting up/troubleshooting field instrumentation

  • Experience with robot programming/troubleshooting a plus

  • Experience with use of OEE tracking to maximize production and eliminate downtime

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and proactively

  • Experience with product introduction (prototype to pilot to volume ramp-up)

  • Varied computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access


BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
