Job Description

$7.50 + Service Charges* (Business activity will affect the amount of service charges each week, but service charges can be an extra $6 & $12 per hour)

Under the direction of Banquet Manager, Assistant Manager & Banquet Captains

Present and serve food and beverages to the guests of Snowbird according to the Banquet Event Order. This position will provide service to a variety of events including continental breakfast, coffee service, lunch, dinner, receptions, and cash food events.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility

  • Service of food and beverage to the guest that exceeds their expectations and follows the standards of the department. Serves from the left and removes from the right in an open, friendly manner. Beverages are served from the right.

  • Setup and tear down of event according to Banquet Event Order.

  • Service of alcoholic beverages and monitoring guest consumption. Opens and pours wine with a professional style. Allowing guests to enjoy themselves without becoming intoxicated beyond control.

  • Reports to work on time and in proper uniform.

  • Monitors assets of Snowbird by proper breakdown of events, puts away unused requisitions, takes dirty equipment and linen to proper locations.

  • Knowing proper food items and temperature of such items for each event by reading Banquet Event Order and consulting with Captain. Completion of assigned side work.

Interactions

  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 0-6 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Food Handler Permit, Alcohol Certification

Skills & Knowledge

  • Food safety, wine service, alcohol service. Requires the ability to apply basic math skills when setting a room with food and beverage as well as cashier skills.

  • Must have the ability to handle, process, maintain and protect guest personal information, including credit card information, in compliance with all company or department policies and procedures according to PCI rules and requirements. This includes privacy and confidentiality, reporting, storage and disposal of sensitive information. Will not share or disclose any guest personal or financial information to anyone unless authorized by the guest, manager or company or unless disclosure is permitted within departmental policies and procedures.

  • This position requires knowledge and understanding of PCI DSS, including the safe and secure handling and maintenance of personal, financial and credit card information of guests/customers.

Work Schedule

  • Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.

  • Irregular shifts and hours due to the nature of the conference business.

Working Conditions

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.

  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

  • Must be able to carry trays and other items needed for service.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Requires a lot of walking as events are held all over resort as well as outside on patios and mountain locations.
