Kaiser Permanente TPMG Sr HR Generalist in San Rafael, California

Performs day-to-day administration of Physician Human Resources practices, policies, and programs which may include several or all of the following areas:

Recruitment, Selection, Hiring/On-Boarding, Orientation, Mentoring, Recognition, Retention, Satisfaction/Wellness, Benefits Administration, Compensation, Disability Management, Workers' Compensation, Diversity, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Regulatory Compliance, Transfer and Termination/Off-Boarding.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists Regional/Facility leadership with the application and interpretation of TPMG Physician Human Resource practices, policies and legal compliance.

  • Assists with the physician recruitment, application, interview, selection, hiring and employment/on-boarding process which includes completion of the Physician Employment Agreement (PEA), confirmation of the NPI and I-9 employment eligibility, new hire benefits sign-up, and the selection and introduction of a mentor for the newly hired physician.

  • Accountable for Disability Management; tracks all leaves and adheres to HR laws and regulations pertaining to FLSA, ADA, FMLA, CESLA, PDL, etc.

  • Accountable for the creation and maintenance of physician employment records.

  • This includes the management of the Physician Employment Agreements (PEAs) for Pool, Contract, Associate and Participant Physicians.

  • Assumes a lead role in the coordination and delivery of New Physician Orientation.

  • Accountable for responding to HR questions and concerns from physicians during all stages of their employment with TPMG.

  • Refers to appropriate HR Leadership as required.

  • Performs physician workers' compensation responsibilities; functions as a liaison between the physicians and the TPMG Workers' Compensation Department.

  • Assists in achieving the goal of 100% completion of required trainings: Annual Compliance, Preventing Harassment in the Workplace, and Supervisory Training, etc.

  • Performs physician benefit and compensation responsibilities; acts as a liaison between the physicians and Benefits and Compensation departments.

  • Assumes a lead role in the set-up and management of Physician Peer Assessment Surveys upon request.

  • Participates in education, communication, implementation and training related to a variety of HR topics.

  • Upholds the standards for excellence in the organization by modeling an exemplary work ethic with high quality results in all communications and work products.

  • Promotes organizational values by leading by example and building effective and productive professional relationships.

  • Performs other related Physician Human Resources duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a TPMG HR Generalist.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in with major course work in human resources, business administration, organizational development, industrial relations, organizational psychology, sociology, counseling, or a closely related field OR four (4) years' experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of HR related laws and regulations, such as FLSA, ADA, FMLA, CESLA, PDL, etc.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution skills.

  • Effective negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Organized, accurate and detail-oriented; expert at managing time in order to complete projects within tight timeframes.

  • Able to establish professional relationships built on trust and integrity.

  • Ability to manage highly delicate and controversial issues while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Working knowledge of all employment practices: recruitment, hiring, training, medical and other leaves, compensation, and benefits.

  • Proficient with PC applications and internet usage.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience as a TPMG HR Generalist or

  • Six (6) years of experience in other HR functions

  • PHR or SPHR certification

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a project manager preferred as this position will also be responsible for Project Management for Physician Health and Wellness.
