The School of Architecture at the University of Utah is conducting an international search for a full-time 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor with an expected start date of July 1, 2018.
This position is focused on design, with the candidate demonstrating a strong record, or emerging potential, of recognized design accomplishments through research and/or creative work. This might include built work, successful competitions, awards and exhibitions, theoretical explorations through scholarship and/or research and grants and publications. The successful candidate is also expected to have another strong area of teaching and expertise—for example: history/theory or critical design process—that aligns with the School of Architecture’s ideals of community engagement, social justice, global citizenship, sustainability and stewardship of the built environment, or health and wellness. A commitment to inspired teaching is expected.
This position involves teaching core and advanced architectural design studios at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as seminar and lecture courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Additional duties include service to the department, college, university and the greater community. •Terminal degree in architecture;
•Demonstrated excellence in design studio teaching as evidenced by portfolio;
•Exceptional record of creative, professional, scholarly and/or academic activities;
•Compelling teaching philosophy;
•Demonstrated commitment to collaboration;
•Thorough understanding of the professional practice of architecture. An architectural license is a plus.
