Description:

Develop and implement internal and external communications programs that support short-and long-term business objectives, and enhance the company reputation and culture for the BI Animal Health Operations site in St Joseph, MO. This includes managing local employees communications, digital channels, media relations, issues preparedness and response activities, company events and community outreach. Member of the local leadership team and the U.S. Animal Health Communications Team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement internal and external communications programs that support short-and long-term business objectives, and enhance the company reputation and culture for the BI Animal Health Operations site in St Joseph, MO. This includes managing local employees communications, digital channels, media relations, issues preparedness and response activities, company events and community outreach.

  • Manages internal communications channels that drive employee engagement, ensuring that employees are well-informed about the company's strategic direction, company news and events, and invested in the company's vision and values.

  • Responsible for identifying and creating the appropriate channels across the St Joseph site, including print and digital communications,leadership communications and site events. As a digital wizard, supports U.S. wide Animal Health communication channels.

  • Manages external stakeholder communications, including local media and key organizations. Devises and recommends appropriate course of action to the Site Leadership Team.

  • Serve as in-house "reporter", cultivating a network of internal contacts to gather news and write powerful stories for U.S. wide Animal Health communication channels.

  • Write updates from local senior management, using strong writing ability to translate complex subject matter into engaging prose.

  • In conjunction with the St. Joseph Operations Training and HR teams, develops and delivers communication and announcements of upcoming training and other HR/site related initiatives.

  • Manages local community outreach to key external stakeholders, charitable contributions/requests and employee volunteer activities, as part of the U.S. BI Animal Health CSR program.

  • Participates as a key member of the local incident management team (IMT) and works in close coordination with the Rapid Response Team/Duluth Communications to prepare or respond to issues.

  • Helps to minimize business interruptions and protects the reputation of the company and its assets by identifying and planning for issues through application of the US issues process.

  • Significant exposure to and dialogue with all levels of employees to include site leadership team and US/global communications/marketing leadership.

  • Works directly with US communications and public relations, BioBU communications professionals, local, state and US government officials, and media.

Requirements:

  • Requires a four (4) year degree in PR, Communications, journalism or closely related field from an accredited institution, and a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in healthcare/pharmaceutical Public Relations/Communications; proven ability to align communications with Company strategy and organizational style

  • Experience cultivating and building relationship with the media

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent planning, organizing and implementation skills. Results oriented, cooperative and strategic thinker.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products including advanced Project, Excel, Power Point and Word functions. Experience with any publishing and/or CMS is a plus.

  • Excellent project management and priority-setting skills. Must exhibit good judgment.

  • Ability to interface with and advise executives along with the ability to build relationships at all levels, collaborate and influence for results.

  • Crisis/issues management background

  • Must work well in teams and invest in developing collaborative internal and external relationships

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
