JOB TITLE: Human Resources Generalist
REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
LOCATION: Rochester, NY, Syracuse, NY & Corning, NY
FLSA: Exempt
This position will be required to work out of the Syracuse or Corning Operation at least once per week.
The AMR Human Resources Generalist performs duties at the professional level within the following functional areas: employee relations, training and development, new employee orientation, compensation, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and compliance with policies, procedures and state/federal employment laws
* Assists in development, implementation, maintenance, interpretation and enforcement of the local Operation s Employee Handbook, Policies & Procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreement
* Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations
* Point of contact for employee relations matters, including employee complaints, compliance concerns, and performance issues. Works with management team to create and implement progressive discipline process and performance improvement plans.
* Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
* Participates in all grievance meetings, union negotiations, and labor management meetings
* Maintains all confidential Personnel Files
* Acts as a liaison for corporate Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, and Disability departments
* Maintains Human Resource Information System (Oracle) records and compiles reports from database
* Assists with CAAS accreditation
* Assists in recruitment efforts for non-field positions. Participates in interview and selection process for management positions.
* Monitors pre-employment requirements, such as background screenings, motor vehicle records, and drug screening
* Updates and develops job descriptions. Works with operational and Human Resources management to gain approval
* Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement
* Participates in administrative staff meetings and departmental meetings on a regular basis
* Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the operation in relation to established goals and recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
* Assists in the preparation and communication of HR metrics
* Assists in responding to unemployment claims
* Partners with recruiting team to schedule and attend recruiting events within the region
* Adheres to all company policies and procedures
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs other related duties as required and assigned
* Bachelor s degree in Human Resources Management or related field
* At least 2 years Human Resources experience in a Generalist role required
* Union experience preferred
* Human Resources experience within a healthcare environment preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
* Prior knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources
* Prior experience with a HRIS database preferred
* Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy
* Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues
* Must maintain strict confidentiality
* Communicates well with employees, management, and public
* Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgement that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or laws
* Ability to research and analyze various types of data information
* Ability to organize and prioritize work
