Dependable and independent worker with knowledge and experience regarding community based developmental disabilities services. Must be familiar with DD regulations, certification and investigation processes. Experience and/or training regarding incident investigation and DD home and community based waivers preferred. Must be able to travel including consecutive overnights and working in varied environments on a daily basis including some that may not be accessible is required. Driving and evaluating various community sites across the State in varied weather conditions. Evening work will be required in some situations. This person will work for the DHHS Division of Public Health and must be able to successfully share information and collaborate with other Divisions including the Divisions of Developmental Disabilities, Medicaid and Long Term Care, Children and Family Services. Although the position is located in Omaha, work and extensive travel throughout the State will be an essential duty of the position.

8-5 M-F with some irregular hours to meet work needs, overnight travel required

Examples of Work

Complete certification and complaint investigation review processes including preparation, on-site work, and follow up to evaluate compliance with regulatory standards. Review complaints submitted against criteria to make decisions about next steps. Write clear, concise, and accurate reports that outline deficiencies and evidence using Word. Must be proficient at writing, formatting, and proofreading. Use NFOCUS to access information to complete work. Track, evaluate, and monitor implementation of plans of improvement for citations issued. Track and analyze related data using SharePoint, shared drives, spreadsheets, and other types of software. Work by distance methods to collaborate with team members. Travel extensively to evaluate services across the State.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Coursework or training in: special education, developmental disability programs, nursing, the social behavioral sciences including behavioral evaluation, analysis, or program assessment, speech therapy, physical therapy or occupational therapy AND experience in special education, rehabilitation, social work, developmental disabilities programs, nursing, psychology, including responsibility for direct programming or program evaluation for persons with developmental disabilities.

PREFERRED: knowledge or experience in Therap, SharePoint and/or NFOCUS systems.

OTHER: A valid Driver's License or authorized independent transportation is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Nebraska DD services, 404 regulations, program techniques designed to provider care, treatment, and services to person with developmental disabilities Skills must include ability to efficiently and accurately use software systems to complete and document work including email, calendars, word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic filing systems. Prefer knowledge or experience in Therap, SharePoint and/or NFOCUS systems. Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with people in multiple internal and external positions including persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, co-workers, managers, provider agencies being certified, and EFH providers. Ability to work independently and efficiently and to manage a fast-paced workload under changing regulations and conditions. Must be able to work with co-workers and manager in various physical locations.
