Description

This is a highly responsible paraprofessional position under the close supervision of the Chief Probation Officer or designee.

Examples of Work

Work includes the supervision and/or monitoring of clients including recreation, home, education, treatment and community activities. Work includes support and services to probation officers in a wide range of areas including supervision of persons on probation and preparation of investigative reports. The person in this position would be involved in supervising medium and high-risk clients under the direction of a probation officer. The person in this position would perform curfew checks, face-to-face contacts, and drug testing; oversee and/or assist in setting up community service and/or restitution; assist clients in program completion and skill development; assist in monitoring clients; assist clients in locating, applying for, and retaining employment; conduct record checks on various automated systems; be familiar with the Standardized Model and compile and send the required information to Registered Providers.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Associate's degree or 63 hours of course work from 4-year college.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, criminal justice, or related fields.

OTHER: All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Position also desires knowledge of the criminal justice system, ability to identify unusual problems for resolution or referral to probation clients, knowledge of community and its resources and transfer appropriate information to officers, ability to meet recurring deadlines, ability to effectively organize time, set priorities, and work under stressful conditions.
