Job Description

As Functional Safety Lead Engineer (Chassis Systems)you are responsible for defining the safety requirements for chassis control systems for various vehicle classes, mainly for hybrid and electric vehicles. You collaborate with the design team to develop, implement and validate effective solutions. Chassis Control Systems include: Active Safety, Driver Assistance, Autonomous Driving, Electric Power Steering and other advanced vehicle control concepts (e.g. torque vectoring). Our extensive customer portfolio includes a spectrum of major manufacturers from luxury and sports car segments to commercial vehicles including highly advanced technical applications.

Main Duties:

  • Leading and coordinating safety activities with customers, all involved divisions in Germany, suppliers, and other Bosch functional groups. Serve as main customer technical interface for functional safety topics.

  • Perform technical analysis and provide results to support the development of the safety case.

  • These analyses include; hazard and risk assessment, hazard metric translation, define safety goals and criteria, ASIL decomposition, FMEA and FTA analysis.

  • Consult and collaborate with the software design teams to achieve effective technical solutions and ensure that all safety requirements are robust at the systems level, hardware interface level and software architectural levels.

  • Actively participate in product development; including planning and monitoring of safety plans; monitoring and developing quality processes; plan and define validation testing.

  • Debugging/troubleshooting, utilizing Bosch proprietary tools, customer tools and generic tools.

  • Verify and validate compliance to safety requirements and audit projects to insure that Bosch quality standards are achieved.

  • Testing will be conducted in simulation environments, HIL test bench and in prototype vehicles.

  • Present results and report progress to internal and external customers, stakeholders and auditors.

  • Occasional business travel - approximately 20% annually, both domestic and international.

  • Developing and extending professional networks within Bosch and to external business partners.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Quality Engineering.

  • 3 years experience with hardware and software engineering development activities/processes.

  • 2 years software and hardware design experience with automotive or non-automotive control systems.

  • 1 year experience in a leadership role (technical, project or team).

  • 1 year experience with the safety standard ISO 26262, preferably also with other safety standards.

  • 1 year of experience in requirements management (acceptance, analysis, planning and tracking).

  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred:

  • 5 years professional development experience with Active Safety Systems, Driver Assistance Systems, Autonomous Driving Systems or Electric Power Steering.

  • Experience with FMEA and FTA analysis.

  • Professional development experience in the field of Vehicle dynamics.

  • Proficiency in MatLab/Simulink, DOORs, JAMA, ASCET and C++.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with professional and positive attitude.
