The Boeing Company Payloads Technical Designer 4 in North Charleston, South Carolina

Boeing South Carolina has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Design position supporting the Interiors Responsibility Center (IRC) or Engineering Design Center (EDC). We are looking for motivated individuals to support design engineering for 787 interiors parts at IRC and/or support reverse engineering of fly-away aircraft parts and assemblies at EDC.

The statement of work includes but is not limited to:

• Creating, designing, documenting and releasing interiors parts in support of 787 customer introductions. • Creating, designing, documenting and releasing insourcing parts in support of certification, PC700 & PMA (Part Manufacturer Approval).

Job Responsibilities:

/A successful candidate must be able to independently perform the following tasks:/

  • Leads the development and maintenance of engineering product definition.

  • Oversees the development of design layouts, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies to satisfy customer and production requirements.

  • Develops engineering production definition based upon Company requirements and parameters.

  • Oversees, directs and integrates the completion of engineering product definition with internal/external business partners to provide a functional end-product.

  • Verifies engineering data by ensuring compliance to standards and integration of parts, instructions and tools.

  • Investigates and resolves complex manufacturing processes or engineering related issues.

  • Integrates and develops work statement, including design requirements, cost and schedule estimates.

  • Develops and validates new processes and procedures to increase the product quality and affordability.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): - Experience with engineering design processes and drawing layout procedure - Model-based engineering design/analysis experience - Verbal and written skills. Teaming, technical and integration skills. - Experience with understanding business ramifications of technical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): - Experience with interiors secondary supports or light limiting headers - Experience creating and releasing engineering designs to support the installation of interiors monuments. - Experience utilizing 3D/2D drawing and GD&T techniques. - Experience with (Part Manufacturer Approval) process. - Experience using ENOVIA and CATIA V5. - 787 design engineering experience - Experience in Product Data Management (PDM) - Leadership skills including scheduling, project management, and planning.

Typical Education / Experience: AA degree in related discipline and typically 6 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
