VMware Solution Engineering Manager, Global Accounts in New York, New York

Due to the tremendous success we have enjoyed, exciting opportunities exist within our Sales Engineering organization for Pre-Sales Solutions Engineers (SE) Management. The Solutions Engineering Manager will manage, develop and lead an organization of Pre-Sales Solutions Engineers aligned to Global Accounts to ensure the sales and effective delivery of the technical and business value of VMware’s solutions and services. The VMware Solutions Engineering Manager plays a critical role in building and sustaining customer relationships, while driving the adoption of VMware solutions to achieve our revenue goals. The SE Manager works very closely with sales to build long-term business relationships within global accounts. The SE Manager is a high-impact, very visible role responsible for ensuring pervasive global account adoption of VMware software and solutions. In addition, they are expected to lead the professional development of their teams.

We are seeking a seasoned leader with a successful track record of handling complex global accounts and who has partnered with sales to grow products and services revenue. In addition, you have demonstrated excellent planning and strategy deployment skills.

You should have experience in technology sales, consulting services, pre-sales or customer facing roles. They should have demonstrated the ability to lead complex sale execution and personally influenced key relationships in driving growth of large-scale business solutions with senior client executives.

Required Background and Experience:

  • We are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter with an outgoing personality, comfortable working both independently and in a team setting.

  • You have been in the high tech industry for 10 or more years in a Pre-sales or customer-facing consulting capacity.

  • Throughout your career you have gathered significant industry knowledge and experience in areas such as End User Computing (EUC) and have a thorough understanding of Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), Software Defined Networking (SDN), Software Defined Storage (SDS), Hyper converged Infrastructure (HCI), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and infrastructure security, but what really sets you apart is your expertise in enterprise applications, systems security, cloud or systems management, and business continuity is really what sets you apart

  • Your strong team building skills, customer facing and relationship building skills, coupled with your listening and questions-based selling skills help you see the “big picture” and develop innovative solutions to your customer’s challenges.

  • You work in a hyper-growth environment with an appreciation of how growth affects the business dynamics, corporate culture and in-place processes and systems

  • You have collaborated with field sales organizations involving joint client presentations, opportunity pursuits and managing customer relationships

  • You have run sales plays for new offerings and developed collateral for the teams' reuse and distribution to both clients and internal groups

  • You are a thought leader and continually evolve sales, increase market adoption and drive a service led sales culture

  • Review key customer deliverables to ensure business alignment and accurate roadmaps with detailed implementation plans

  • Validated ability to communicate professionally with executives, teams, customers and partner, including CxO-level personal; aligns partner interests and navigates customer organizations to ensure successful project delivery and acceptance

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing principles, features, and business & IT value propositions for Enterprise customers

  • Manage in a matrix model supporting sales, corporate product teams, support organizations, professional services and enterprise partner teams.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to handle challenging client demands and multiple engagements

  • Experience with financial modeling and benchmarking principles

  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and motivational skills

  • Strong understanding of Hybrid Cloud (VMC on AWS, IBM Cloud)

  • You will travel up to 40% of the time

  • Your BA/BS degree or equivalent give you the skills to continually learn
