Job Description:

The Executive Licensing Manageris responsible for supervising designated institutional sales team in the selling of all Company products and services to Academicinstitutions in a designated territory and market. He/she will manage and motivate the Institutional sales team.

Specific responsibilities include setting group and individual goals, bonus plans and managing revenue expectations. Negotiates with both libraries and agents for final pricing and develops special projects for inside and/or direct sales reps. Motivates and directs department staff. Responsible for controlling and the budgeting of sales team expenses.

This position is directly responsible for managing Account Managers. Work closely with Vice President, Institutional Sales in all aspects of the position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the growth of all Academic Institutional sales in respective region/market
  • Build, develop and manage best-in-class sales team capable of carrying out needed sales initiatives
  • Provide inspirational leadership and guidance to Institutional sales team
  • Meet Institutional sales goals that are set by senior management
  • Along with team, work closely with customers to ensure revenue and new business growth expectations are exceeded
  • Work closely with marketing function to establish successful support, channel and partner programs
  • Analyze market and tends for future planning of Institutional sales
  • Review company and inter departmental projects to establish possibilities for the inclusion or expansion of Institutional sales
  • Represent senior sales management not only internally but also out in the field via on-site sales calls and conferences
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing key opportunities
  • Work with editorial departments to maximize the sales potential of Springer Natures intellectual property
  • Perform other related duties as required

Experience, education, skills and qualifications required:

  • Bachelors degree with business, marketing or science concentration and3 years publishing background in a similar leadership role
  • Proven management skills and a track record of exceeding sales goals, preferably in an Institutional sales environment
  • International business experience highly recommended
  • Must possess strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Must have an assertive and pro-active style with a sense of urgency
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize work and train and motivate staff
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills a must
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally approximately 40%
