What you’ll do

This position is customer-facing and will be charged with forging positive relationships with key industry figures. Candidates will need strong interview and writing skills and will be responsible for weekly content in key floor covering categories — stories will be assigned but there will be the expectation that they will identify editorial opportunities as well. The associate editor will be providing content for our print edition as well as our website and social media platforms. They will also be crafting custom content for our clients.

Candidates must be deadline-oriented. They will contribute to weekly editorial meetings and will be expected to add to the creative process with new ideas. While the associate editor will become the expert in key areas/categories, they should be able to collaborate with the edit team on larger projects and be asked at times to take the lead on specific projects.

The ability to travel is required. Travel will be approximately 6 to 8 trips per year but is subject to change.

Who you are

  • Bachelor of science or business administration degree in English, journalism or mass communication

  • Two to five years’ experience in a relative field

  • Page proofing experience

  • Ability to turn out high quality and high content (average 5,000 words a month)

  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships

  • Knowledge of AP Style is a plus
