Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our team as part-time professors in our diploma/advanced diploma and Bachelor of Business Administration programs in Human Resources. This program offers students a comprehensive set of practical and critical skills, as well as collaboration, hands-on learning and experimentation to actively apply knowledge to solve business problems that simulate the real world. Our functional areas of teaching include recruitment and selection, talent acquisition, performance management, industrial relations, negotiation, change management, HR research methods, diversity in the workplace, occupational health & safety, disability management, total rewards management, HRIS, and related courses. Our learning philosophy supports the belief that HR is a strategic partner that works to align human resources and business strategy.
Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques;
Tutoring and academic counselling of students, while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses;
Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable;
Attending periodic faculty meetings.
MBA or Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field. PhD in a related field a strong asset;
A minimum of three years of relevant practical and professional experience required;
Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry is preferred;
Strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies and employers in the HR industry;
Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate learning with a broad range of students;
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.
