Here, you go.This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.Job Summary:The person hired for this position will provide direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development, allocating work assignments, review of progress in achieving objectives, managing employee compensation, performance appraisals, diversity, disability, all relevant employee data, etc. Understands and enforces corporate/location policies and procedures. Takes appropriate action to address policy violations. May manage workforce vendors and contracts. Member of cross functional global business team responsible for operational aspect for the business including support of existing business and new product development.Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Identifying, prioritizing, initiating, and planning technical programs for one or more work groups. Responsible for technical program outcomes. Leading/driving completion of complex cross-functional programs having major importance to the organization. Examples include creation of new products and technologies, customer applications, support of existing products, product line extensions, etc.Has direct responsibility for establishing and managing budgets for assigned work groups. Approves assigned programs and budget deviations as well as overall resources to meet business objectives.Has a significant business impact on the organization due to the scope of responsibility and complexity of duties. Utilizes resources across work areas, departments, and businesses to create solutions to complex, multi-faceted problems for significantly different situations.Energizes work groups by creating a climate which encourages innovation, risk taking, teamwork, and high productivity.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple functions and/or organizations. Encourages and coordinates same for assigned personnel.Maintaining a strong operational knowledge of organizations technologies, products, customers and customers needs.Developing an in-depth knowledge of the laboratory, manufacturing, engineering, financial, legal, sales and marketing functions and interfaces as required.Developing an extensive knowledge of external activities/technologies that relate to the organization.Developing an extensive knowledge of external activities/technologies that relate to the food safety industry.Developing appropriate intellectual property protection plans for potential 3M proprietary positions.Providing recommendations for technical strategic planning and laboratory programs. Understanding and communicating relevant elements of strategic technical plan to assigned work groups.Other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications:Possess a Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionMinimum of eight (8) years of combined technical industry and/or academic experience in hardware or software developmentPreferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or Physics from an accredited institutionMinimum of four (4) years experience in technology and commercialization of analytical instrumentation or software-as-a-service businessesMinimum of two (2) years experience in project management of hardware and software development leveraging external vendors including contract negotiationsMinimum of two (2) years experience in management of hardware and software teamsLocation: Maplewood, MNTravel: May include up to 15% domestic and international travelRelocation Benefits: Is not authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).VEVRAA Federal ContractorReq
