Senior R&D Engineer About the role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer supporting Structural Heart projects within the Interventional Cardiology division. Structural Heart is an exciting growth driver for BSC. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC s mission. This position supports a major product category with high visibility which will provide the right candidate with excellent growth potential. The Senior R&D Engineer will support product design and development aspects within the Mitral portfolio. The candidate will work closely with the cross-functional R&D team to close knowledge gaps, define the product design, and develop requirements and methods. Strong communication, collaboration and critical-thinking skills are the skill-sets required of this position. Additional responsibility includes interacting with an acquired organization and helping to remediate existing designs in preparation for clinical trials. Your responsibilities include: * Develop new products, test methods, or equipment with minimal supervision * Define, communicate, and execute plans for project segment * Contribute to technical teams through design prototyping, testing, verification, and validation of new medical devices * Translate customer needs through the development of product requirements, specifications, and test methods * Close technical knowledge gaps by root cause problem solving, sound engineering experimentation, and rational decision making * Analyze, summarize, and report conclusions from complex test results * Prepare reports and documentation to communicate results to the technical team * Generate invention disclosures to strengthen BSC s intellectual property portfolio * Demonstrate product and technology development knowledge through delivery of high quality deliverables * Communicate Boston Scientific s quality system and design control philosophy in a way that is clear to start-up engineers What we re looking for: Minimum Qualifications * BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical or a related Engineering field * 4+ years of medical device engineering experience * Self-motivated with a passion for solving problems and a bias for action * Hands-on approach to product development Preferred Qualifications * Experience with medical device Product Development Process (PDP) * Competent in Design of Experiments, statistical methods, & CAD design tools * Nitinol implatable device and/or catheter delivery system design experience * Ability to temporarily re-locate to California for 3-6 months in 1H, 2019 About us As a global medical technology leader for more than 35 years, our mission at Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) is to transform lives through innovative medical solutions that improve the health of patients.
