Job Title:Client Advocate

Reports to:Operations Director/Program Director


Salary:DOE + Benefits (after successful completion of introductory period)


The Client Advocate is the entry-level position in Operations Department. Client Advocates are responsible for the shift-by-shift supervision of the client milieu and attending to client’s essential needs while at Cedar Creek Recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completion of all Client Advocate duties and/or documentation within Cedar Creek and state mandated timelines.

  • Conduct client rounds according to state protocols and document appropriately.

  • Responsible to read communication log at beginning of shift and complete their own summary and essential tasks contained therein by conclusion of shift.

  • Complete new admission intake procedures according to Cedar Creek policies on all new admissions (UA, belongings searches, and paperwork).

  • Documentation of daily progress in client charts. Overnight staff to document quantity and quality of sleep in progress notes.

  • Medications observation for clients in accordance to Cedar Creek and DHS guidelines.

  • Administering detoxification protocols (completion of CIWA, COWS forms, vital signs rounds) on all detoxification clients.

  • Transportation of clients to appointments, meetings etc.

  • Crisis intervention

  • Logging of new medications or medication changes according to DHS and Cedar Creek procedures.

  • Assist, teach and/or supervise clients with general household chores, cleanliness and food preparation; clean up as required.

Required Experience:

Required Job Competencies


  • An introductory understanding of chemical dependency

  • An introductory understanding of the 12 Step process

  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and privacy measures


  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong listening skills, particularly when clients are conveying their needs.

  • Attend all state and company mandated trainings.

  • Attend all mandatory weekly staff meetings

  • Transports clients, drives clients in company vehicles to appointments

  • The ability to complete rounds by monitoring clients throughout the facility

  • Comes to work on time every day. Is fully prepared and ready to work at beginning of work schedule and continues until workday is done.

  • Makes appropriate arrangements when adverse weather or other problems might delay on-time arrival.

  • Conforms to work hours and schedule. Alerts supervisor unexpected problems cause absence, lateness, or the need to leave early, in accordance to CCR policy

Required Qualifications:

  • One year of experience in a human services setting.

  • Clean DMV Record and/or accordance with Cedar Creek requirements.

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR

  • Flexibility with hours and scheduling

  • High School diploma, or GED equivalent

  • Must be legally able to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two to three years experience in a human services setting.

  • Experience working with chemically dependent individuals

  • Experience in a residential treatment facility

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Intern

Client Advocate will sign and acknowledge job description/revised job description which will be placed in employee file.

The employee will be provided performance evaluations to measure performance areas. Inability to meet performance expectations will result in specific, short term performance enhancement action plan with a timeline to improve. Below average rating in employee performance will result in progressive disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
