Role Purpose:

The Manager, Vendor Management is responsible for the execution of all process and procedures encompassing the vendor life cycle. This includes need/opportunity identification, strategic sourcing, contract and compliance management and relationship management.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Manage the procurement of strategic vendors, including sourcing, request for proposal, evaluation and selection.

  2. Lead/Assist in complex contract negotiations in coordination with business partners and outside counsel where appropriate.

  3. Provide guidance and oversight in the management of the vendor relationships, including the development and documentation of mutual expectations/SLAs.

  4. Work closely with varying levels of management in the primary business units to proactively manage the mix and number of vendors providing products and services to Dean Health Plan.

  5. Responsible for supporting the ongoing development and implementation of vendor management tools, processes and best practices across the organization.

  6. Facilitate early decision making in ownership of vendor relationships.

  7. Develop and implement spend management activities and opportunities.

  8. Maintain knowledge of industry trends and developments to better satisfy business partners needs and goals.

  9. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business stakeholders by networking in order to understand business needs and identify opportunities.

  10. Advise business partners on contract requirements pertinent to their operations to assist in meeting objectives.

  11. Oversee department staff.

  12. Oversee sunset of vendors and ensure timely termination.

  13. Coordinate contract process in collaboration with Finance and Legal.

  14. In collaboration with the Medicare Compliance Officer, develop a standardized oversight process for First Tier, Downstream and Related Entities, to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and CMS program requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance, Business or a related field.

  2. More than 5 years of relevant vendor sourcing, management and negotiation experience.

  3. Demonstrated ability in creating and negotiating service level agreements.

  4. Broad understanding of business plans and demonstrated ability to relate the need for talent to the business plan.

  5. Strong understanding of key terms relevant to corporate contracts.

  6. Ability to apply knowledge across complex business areas and lead cross functional teams comprised of the business, finance, information privacy and Law.

  7. Demonstrated ability to think and apply strategic direction by considering a broad range of internal and external factors

  8. Proven ability to establish and maintain cross-functional relationships, influence change with diplomacy and lead the decision making processes.

  9. Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.

  10. Excellent research, analytical, problem solving, planning and organization skills required as well as a high degree of personal initiative and motivation.

  11. Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  12. Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

  13. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  1. 4-5 years of work experience in the health insurance and managed care industry.

  2. More than 8 years of relevant vendor sourcing, management and negotiation experience.

Essential Physical Functions:

  1. Job tasks are primarily sedentary in nature.

  2. Ability to perform fine motor skills while using the computer or writing. Computer use may occur for extended periods.

  3. Ability to hear and converse on the phone and in person.

  4. Ability to continuously perform fine motor tasks, such as computer, writing or phone tasks.

  5. Ability to perform occasional tasks that involve crouching, twisting, overhead or climbing stairs.
