Laboratory Corporation of America System Director in Louisville, Kentucky
The Director needs to have a broad knowledge of clinical medicine and where the laboratory fits in the healthcare system. The Director needs to have an understanding of:
Basic Medical and Clinical Laboratory Sciences
Point of Care Testing
Physician Office workflow and needs
Quality Management Systems
Business Management, budget, operating expenses and capital equipment
The Director needs to have experience with:
Active participation in hospital committees
Active collaboration with other departments in patient care , service levels and performance improvement activities
Initiating improved methods of service and direct their implementation
Fiscal operation of the laboratory
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations
Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, attentive to detail and maintain a positive attitude
Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
Ability to travel a minimum of 25-30%

Medical Technologist. Masters Degree preferred. Certified in Lean/Six Sigma preferred. 5+ years experience in managing hospital laboratory setting.
Monday - Friday, 8-5, and other hours as business needs.
