The Patient Biller III is responsible for accurately processing inpatient and outpatient claims to third party payers, following all mandated billing guidelines. Provide quality control checks on paper claims; process tracers, denials and related correspondence; initiate appeals; draft, compose, and submit appeal letters specific to coding issues consistent with the most updated American Medical Association Current Procedural Terminology. The Patient Biller III must have the ability to perform all required duties within the patient accounting systems. The Patient Biller III may serve as a primary source for Customer Service assistance and ensuring customer satisfaction. He/she must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in order to address and resolve patients’ concerns. The Patient Biller III will handle a high volume of incoming customer service calls in a call-center environment. This position requires a general knowledge of overall Business Office functions. He/she must demonstrate a positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, and must be professional in both appearance and approach. Skilled in the usage of all Microsoft and other programs as defined by the Faculty Practice Group, Physicians’ Billing Office Management Staff. Direct review of daily production and other production-based reports in an effort to validate staff usage needs, portfolio reduction efforts, customer services and staff morale.
ideal candidate should have at least two years experience as a medical collector, professional experince is required, facility experience is recommended. Collector is responsible for working denials, ability to understand denial reason codes and EOB, should be able to identify the root cause of the denial and how to proceed with appealing and or correcting the claim. Collector should be able to determine if correct CPT, ICD-10 and/ modifiers were used to support medical necessity. Abiltiy to submit written correspondence to payer along with supporting documentation. Candidate should also have expierience with Excel, Word, Payer Websites and on-line tools. in addition candidate should understand payer policies.
