Citi Research is seeking a manager of its survey and market research operations. The successful candidate for this New York or London–based position will play a key role in enhancing Citi’s industry leading investment research with unique data and insight collected through market research platforms. Citi’s Investment clients leverage these insights to identify new opportunities, uncover emerging areas of growth and support their investment decisions.

Based in New York or London working within Citi’s Investment Banking Global Research Department, you will manage and supervise all survey or market research based analyst work.
You will be a visible internal expert, working closely with Citi's research analysts- who cover all geographical and market sector categories- interpreting their briefs and converting them to high quality actionable survey or market research proposals.
This will entail overseeing the construction of effective and unbiased survey and questionnaire designs, including key decisions on the correct survey format, sample size and sampling frame. The Manager will work closely with external vendors and suppliers to manage fieldwork and execute on the market research studies.
You will constantly map the market research h industry to identify new innovative companies, services, methodologies and alternative data which Citi Research can leverage to identify new opportunities, uncover emerging areas of growth and support investment decisions.
Work and Responsibilities:
Work closely with analysts globally, converting their research thesis to valid survey and market research projects.
Supervise the correct usage and interpretation of the data findings for users with little market research experience
Manage effectively the workflow of survey and market research projects- both incoming and current.
Maintain a data catalogue of all survey based datasets, while working closely with other assets in Citi’s Research Innovation Lab to find synergies with survey data. Especially in the field of Web Mining and Geo-Spatial data.
Effectively maintain a short list of preferred vendors, developing and revising as necessary, extracting the most value from our data budget.
Promote the use of Market Research and Survey based investment research internally to the global analyst team, as well as to management.
Extensive experience in a full service research agency, leading research projects from design, costing to execution and reporting. Managing Financial Service Industry accounts is an advantage.
Sound background in the practical skills of the trade such as questionnaire and survey design as well as table specification. Experience in managing both qualitative and quantitative Market Research projects a clear advantage.
Proven track record of working across a range of survey modes such as RDD telephone, Online panels, face-to-face interviews, mystery shoppers, etc.
Experience in executing on projects which involve data collection of ‘hard to get’ and niche populations such c-suit executives, managers in specific professional verticals.
Running projects involving more unique tools such as focus groups, social listening or digital trackers such as passive media consumption can be an interesting advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be a confident and effective communicator at all levels.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel
Intermediate to advanced SPSS, Stata, R or equivalent statistical software is preferred.
A strong command of the English language (oral and written) is essential.
Strong presentation skills.
