Area of Consideration: The initial area of consideration is this Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). The duties of the Management Assistant position in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service includes but is not limited to:
- Compiles and maintains data for frozen section turnaround time, modified reports, autopsy report, and resident billing spreadsheet and distributes to appropriate person.
- Requisitions office supplies, equipment, and publications, and performs similar office maintenance duties.
- Arranges for large meetings or conferences and prepares and distributes minutes.
- Receives all visitors and telephone calls to the Pathology Office.
- Receives incoming correspondence, performs filing for various documents.
- Serves as timekeeper for P&LMS; providing advice concerning time and leave procedures, travel vouchers, and reporting and correspondence procedures.
- Accurately transcribes data into medical reports by typing from voice recordings dictated by pathologists and other healthcare providers in the organization.
- Completes gross dictation into the patient's medical record using voice recognition software. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: * Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Physical Requirements:The work requires sitting for long periods of time and performing work on various computer programs. The position will also require walking between the points of supply delivery to the area of supply receipt. This may involve lifting boxes of supplies that may weigh up to 20 pounds.
There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
The Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) and Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) provide eligible displaced Federal/VA competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
