St. Joseph Health Patient Care Technician II - Emergency Department, Per Diem, Variable Days, 12 Hours in Laguna Beach, California

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision by the RN, the Patient Care Tech II is responsible for providing basic nursing care for in-patients and out-patients as needed, within their specified area(s) (see below). The Patient Care Tech II is responsible for collecting and reporting of information to the supervising RN and completion of all patient care related documentation. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the Hospital’s mission statement.

Patient Care Techs are assigned as follows: Emergency Services – basic respiratory, cardiology, nursing care, phlebotomy, assists with orthopedic devices and procedures (infant, child, adolescent, adult, geriatric)

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High school graduate or GED

  • Completion of a CNA program or completion of firstsemester nursing program or EMT program completion for hires to EmergencyServices

Experience:

  • Experience with basic data entry and computer skills onMS Windows based PC system

License/Certification:

  • CurrentAHAHealthcare provider BLS certification and currentCalifornia Certified Phlebotomy Technician license or licensedLVN with LVN Board approved blood withdrawal certification and hiresafter 10/31/16 require current CNA license or completion offirst semester nursing program or current NREMT (National RegistryEmergency Registration certification or current CA EMT license forEmergency Services

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • One year of acute patient care experience or six monthsexperience in a direct patient care environment in providing clericalsupport related to Provider or Patient documentation and/or charting orsuccessful completion of dysrhythmia course or ability to pass rhythmrecognition exam test.

Training:

  • EKG Training
