Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer

PDS Tech is hiring experienced GNC Engineers for current and recurring positions in the Los Angeles area.

Roles and Responsibilities (including some or all of the following):

  • System design, analysis, modeling, and simulation

  • Flight system performance analysis including nonlinear modeling, digital control, and system effectiveness analysis

  • Navigation system error analysis

  • Simulation - to include evaluation under nominal, off-nominal, and Monte Carlo flight modes

  • Develop, modify, and maintain hazards assessment tools to evaluate instantaneous impact points (IIP) and probability of impact

  • Develop, modify, and maintain GPS and telemetry processing tools for the reduction and analysis of flight test to determine Best Estimate of Trajectory (BET)

  • Prepare presentations, reports, research, and other contract deliverables related to analyses performed

  • Defining, analyzing, and reviewing results from model simulations

  • Using results of modeling and simulations to predict performance

  • Updating of models based on designs, test results, and other data

  • Statistical analysis to quantify effect of individual errors on system accuracy

Required Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • BS in engineering or physics with 3+ years or MS in engineering or physics with 5+ years engineering experience with complex systems engineering

  • 3+ years' experience with system simulation and software engineering processes (e.g., requirements development for new subsystem, requirements analysis and management, design development and review, configuration management, interface control)

  • 3+ years system simulation and/or data analysis of airborne flight systems or equivalent

  • Experience with statistical analysis of test and simulation results using tools such as MATLAB

  • Experience in at least one of the following: control systems engineering, dynamic six degree of freedom modeling and simulation, launch vehicle analysis, navigation systems. Preference given to multiple skills

  • Must have demonstrated presentation skills and experience interfacing with customer

  • Position requires a proactive, self-starting, independent, flexible engineer with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must have a current Secret security clearance or able to obtain clearance

Desired Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • BS, MS or PhD in engineering or physics

  • Understanding of engineering disciplines including aerodynamics and structural dynamics

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Kalman Filtering, software development, Linux scripting, makefiles, Python, revision control systems
