Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Systems Integration Engineer - Entry Level on the Mission and Program Integration (MAPI) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

MAPI provides program support related to strategic and tactical planning, engineering analysis, manifest development and hardware certification, safety and mission assurance, risk management, information technology, payload integration, program science and research. This includes support of mission and program integration and necessary infrastructure operations functions for the International Space Station (ISS). MAPI has the potential of supporting other NASA programs or projects via task orders.

The Systems Integration Engineer - Entry Level will:

  • Review Cargo Manifests to identify re-flight cargo, new cargo, and new cargo with segment/cargo interfaces.

  • Track and review electronic Launch Return and On-Orbit Data Sets (eLRODS) in support of packing and environmental assessments.

  • Generate Manifest Analysis Protocols, Interface Certificates, Specialized Packing Assessments, Environmental Assessments, and Yellow Tag Lists.

  • Generate Joint Cargo Certification Team (JCCT) inputs to the Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) process.

  • Generate Requests for Service (RFS) to the Cargo Mission Contractor (CMC).

  • Facilitate JCCT Team meetings.

  • Support IP teleconferences, TIMs, and protocol development.

  • Provide administrative support of standard product development, weekly meetings, the tracking of action items to closure, and support documentation.

  • Perform all other assigned duties.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree or anticipated December 2018 graduation in engineering from an accredited engineering school.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook); PC Laptop computers.

  • Excellent communication (both in verbal and written), integration, coordination and presentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently.

Preferences:

  • Computer programming (Visual Basic, C, C++, Python, Java) is a plus.

  • Project or other leadership experience (in school, extracurricular or internship).

  • Innovation or process improvement skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate technical understanding of complex situations and communicate to appropriate audience.

    Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.

  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.

  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
