PrimaryResponsibilities

We are currently searching for an experienced engineer to serve as a Design Program/Project Manager for stormwater design projects in our Houston Office.

  • Progressive anddocumented experience leading moderate to complex drainage design projects fora diverse client base.

  • Design oversightof various experience level staff, and coordination with other FNI technicaldisciplines including geotechnical, structural, and construction.

  • Leading thedesign and preparation of construction documents for complex stormwater andheavy civil engineering construction projects including earthen channels,concrete channels, detention/retention ponds, retaining walls, energydissipation structures, drainage pump stations, and roadway drainagedesign.

  • Documented experiencewith Harris County and Harris County Flood Control District as well as othermunicipal and county drainage entities.

  • Experience withclient coordination, analysis, report preparation, public meetings, anddevelopment of standard and non-standard construction documents is required.

  • Strong technicalwriting skills and a working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.

  • Experience withwater quality, fluvial geomorphology, and large basin hydrologic/hydraulicmodeling and mapping is a plus.

  • Knowledgeablein erosion and sediment control criteria, stormwater management regulations,and permitting processes required.

  • Will be activelyinvolved in projects greater than 50% of their time.

  • Experience inmanaging all ranges of project size, preparing and maintaining projectschedules, tracking project financials, preparing status reports andinvoicing.

  • Technicalability to prepare feasibility studies.

  • Familiaritywith TCEQ dam safety requirements is a plus.

  • Strongcommunication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Ability to teach,coach and mentor less experienced engineers required.

  • Ability to workindependently as well as oversee the work of teams of professionals andtechnicians.

  • The role will encompassbusiness development activities, including proposal preparation and somemarketing activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of designplans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Serving as ProjectManager/Program Manager/Engineer of Record to lead the design and monitorprogress of projects.

  • Planning, scheduling, andexecuting engineering work for projects and serving as the liaison betweenclients, regulatory agencies, subconsultants, and design teams.

  • Resolving a variety of complexproblems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability ofconventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’sDegree in Civil Engineering is required.

  • Registrationas a Professional Engineer in Texas is required.

  • 10+ years ofprogressive work experience in the design of stormwater infrastructure inthe areas of open channels, detention ponds, and energy dissipationstructures.
