This position is within the power function of Chevron Pipeline and Power (CPP), which is headquartered in Houston, TX. The Power function's mission is to assist Chevron power generation facilities in sustaining world class performance. These core functions include turbine-generator/HRSG and balance of plant performance monitoring and troubleshooting, major inspection planning and execution, operations support and recommendations, engineering analysis, margin analysis, power system business plan development, and modification & upgrades project management.

This position serves as an Application Support Specialist embedded in ETC's Machinery and Power Support Center (MPSC) and is primarily responsible for maintaining the integrity of the MPSC technical solution. The position is largely responsible for ITSM and IRM compliance activities, is an active participant in the MPSC Tools Governance process, resolves partner BU deployment and technical issues, and monitors and reports on Life Cycle management performance of the solution across all monitored sites.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide primary support for MPSC's OSIsoft PI, layered applications and GE SmartSignal application environments

  • Assist partner BUs with architecting, procuring and deploying OSIsoft PI solutions

  • Configure PI systems to transfer data to MPSC for remote monitoring and support

  • Assist in the development of strategic initiatives

  • Influence senior management to implement best practice solutions, utilizing relationships across the organization and applying lessons learned from other BUs and projects

  • Understand business needs, gather requirements and perform alternative analysis following CPMS processes and IT policies

  • Maintain and enhance existing remote performance monitoring systems

  • Provide domain expertise and help set direction of equipment monitoring and diagnostic technologies

  • Provide reliable, evergreen and cost-effective IT solutions in collaboration with ETC and ITC

  • IRM Activities, including audit participation of CPP Assets

  • Sustain / Enhance Cyber Security initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline, or prior work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • PCN Experience - familiar with SCADA, Distributed Control Systems, Data Collection, OPC

  • Broad technical knowledge in key IT functions such as hardware/software, architecture/infrastructure, network security, and information management are expected.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% (Domestic and International)

  • Broad technical knowledge in key IT functions.

  • Experience providing innovative technical solutions, providing application support, and conducting user training.

  • Experience standardizing work processes and documenting procedures.

  • Strong oral and communication skills, which may require use of translators with international sites.

  • Proficiency in OSIsoft PI software tools is required.

  • Sound working knowledge of MS Windows/IIS administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GE, Siemens-Westinghouse, and other turbine control systems.

  • Experience with Emerson, Bailey, Honeywell, Yokogawa or other DCS systems.

  • Self-starting individual who can prioritize numerous tasks at once and motivate others.

  • Ability to understand trending and predictive maintenance computer programs, which interact with process control networks.

  • General knowledge of the power generation industry is a plus.

  • Proficiency in SmartSignal predictive analysis software tool preferred.
