QUALITY ENGINEER (R&D MACHINING)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive effective and timely resolution of all identified nonconformances within the R&D machine shop

  • Identify root cause of common quality problems

  • Develop and execute action plans to reduce recurrence of top issue drivers

  • Quantify and document manufacturing and inspection capabilities to allow for appropriate quality planning

  • Create and implement action plans to rectify localized and systemic breakdowns with design, planning, and operations

  • Work closely with quality assurance in purging suspect/non-conforming material from inventory and throughout the organization

  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement efforts with a focus on driving detection capability and ownership upstream

  • Assist in the development and facilitation of process FMEA’s and helps maintain risk management policies & programs

  • Coordinate and participate with issue creation in localized material review (MRB), root cause, failure analysis, and corrective action (8D); utilize various analysis tools and make corrective action and containment recommendations

  • Provide training on quality policies and techniques throughout the organization

  • Develop, analyze, and present process metrics to encourage design for manufacturability and quality

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering

  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar training or experience

  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and methods

  • Experience with capacity modeling, process mapping and fault analysis

  • Experience with Pareto analysis, root cause, and corrective actions

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning and Material Resource Planning systems and software

  • Hands-on experience with machining equipment and processes

  • Basic proficiency with SQL and database structures, as well as Tableau

  • Basic proficiency with VBA, C#, and other programming languages

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, both independently and with a team

  • Ability to learn new skills on-the-job, both quickly and efficiently

  • Ability to identify and maintain priorities for tasks and projects

  • Strong communication and technical skills
