  • Introduction*:

The Engineering Rotation Program provides the foundation for the future success of SUEZ engineers and the future success of the organization. This is a three (3) year onboarding program designed to develop new civil engineering graduates and integrate them into the SUEZ Water NJ Engineering Department.

The Engineering Rotation Program brings qualified candidates to SUEZ and introduces them to engineering principles and multiple civil engineering disciplines for a period of three years. Graduates from this program will be able to make an informed decision as to which civil engineering discipline and which department in SUEZ may best interest them. The program will prepare the emerging engineers to become competent and well-rounded for employment in the water and waste water operations field.

  • Program Structure:*

Rotations are designed to provide a broad exposure to SUEZ Water NJ, provide a variety of experiences and offer networking opportunities. SUEZ Water NJ operates primarily from three locations in Bergen County, NJ: Haworth, Paramus and Hackensack. Each rotation will be based out of one of the three locations. Each rotation, its duration and location are as follows:

  • General Education (3 months, Haworth location)

  • Above Ground Structures / Operations (15 months, Haworth location)

  • Underground Network & GIS (10 months, Hackensack location)

  • Master Planning (5 months, Paramus location)

  • Transmission & Distribution (1 month, Hackensack location)

  • Metering (1 month, Hackensack location)

  • CS, Procurement for Remote Operations (2 weeks, multiple locations)

  • New Business, Finance, A/P and Legal (2 weeks, multiple locations)

The program will require occasional travel to sites such as dams, pumping stations, and wells that are owned and/or operated by SUEZ Water NJ.

While participating in the program, all engineers will report directly to the Director of Engineering, NJ Division for the full duration of the program. Meetings will be held once per rotation to review current rotational progress, plan upcoming rotations, and discuss long term career planning.

When the engineer begins working in a new department, they will be assigned a technical mentor. This mentor will assign projects, monitor progress, and discuss future opportunities in their department with the new engineer.

Once the rotation program is nearing the end, management will work with the engineer to identify which department they want to join permanently.

  • All candidates must complete the full three-year program to be considered for the opportunity to join a specific SUEZ team

  • A pre-designed program to be established with a well-defined schedule and goals. Throughout the rotation, a constant dialogue with the candidates enables identification of their aspirations and challenges in a timely manner.

  • Rotations sequence, duration and scope may be modified at the discretion of the Director of Engineering or Human Resources

Required Experience

  • Required Experience:* This position is for individuals that have recently completed their bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Consideration will also be given to Mechanical Engineering majors with significant coursework in Civil Engineering may be considered. Master’s degree in is a plus. This position requires previous internship or co-op with concentration on water engineering, site/civil engineering and/or environmental engineering. Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification or the ability to obtain the EIT in a year from the date of hiring is required.
