Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Wells Fargo Compliance (WFC) is the company’s compliance second line of defense function, providing company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance (regulatory requirements), meet compliance responsibilities, and manage compliance risks. Wells Fargo Compliance credibly challenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.

The WFC Operations team has responsibility for implementing and managing an end-to-end WFC risk assessment process, developing a WFC process framework to support cross-functional initiatives, building the WFC data and analytics platform to connect compliance data across applicable data sources and develop metrics, building an enhanced WFC supporting tools suite to meet WFC requirements for reporting, providing project management support for WFC framework enhancements, and supporting enterprise-wide regulatory change initiatives.

This Compliance Data, Reporting & Analytics Consultant position will be responsible for the analytics and reporting of regulatory compliance and monitoring & testing data at the enterprise level. To perform this work, the person in this role will be required to understand and define all key data points that should be considered so as to provide timely, relevant and complete analysis, trending and reports to various levels of management, including to the Chief Compliance Officer, senior risk leaders and the Board. The responsibilities include providing credible challenge to ensure the accuracy and relevance of compliance, operational and enterprise data and analytics in the first and second lines of defense. This role will report to the Data and Analytics Management leader within the WFC Operations team.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analytics across key enterprise, operational, and regulatory compliance systems

  • Use multiple databases and connect disparate data to build a relevant and cohesive, succinct product that can be used by senior management to make decision on controlling and mitigating regulatory compliance risk

  • Collect and document clear and concise business requirements while working closely with process owners and report end-users

  • Develop and execute documented plans and structures for assigned reporting and analytic assignments, including underlying data requirements, testing, status tracking, follow-up lists, documentation, and on-going report distribution

  • Develop and produce periodic and ad hoc analytics and reporting from Wells Fargo systems such SHRP Issue Management, SHRP Compliance Management, Risk Control Self- Assessment (RCSA) and other modules, as appropriate

  • Conduct trending and modeling analysis on multiple data points; challenge results where anomalies or conflicting data exist

  • Compile and report aggregated data to assist subject matter experts (SMEs) in reaching decisions related to the end-to-end compliance risk assessment solution

  • Participate in WFC initiatives to define metrics, key risk indicators and thresholds for regulatory compliance risk and implement a process to support enterprise-wide reporting and monitoring

  • Identify and recommend potential new data sources from which additional relevant information could be mined

  • Summarize and present analytical findings and recommendations clearly to senior management through PowerPoint and Excel

  • Assist in developing, documenting and maintaining analytics methodologies that are objective, consistent and transparent

  • As appropriate, assist with the management of regulatory examinations and inquiries, and internal audits of assigned activities

  • Assist with the development of training materials

  • Help ensure identified deficiencies are promptly addressed and resolved

  • Help ensure proper and effective communication is in place

  • Build strong partnerships and collaborate effectively with business, risk, legal and regulatory partners

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of database querying and creating ad hoc reporting results using SQL or similar querying methods

  • Knowledge and understanding of business intelligence development and reporting

  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Tableau

  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Strong, clear and concise written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members

  • Ability to gather end-user requirements regarding reporting needs

  • Experience writing Business Requirements Documents (BRD's)

  • Knowledge and understanding of project coordination: client interface, data management, reporting, review, and analysis

  • Experience conducting project meetings, presentations and status reporting

  • Experience documenting and reporting test results

  • Experience with Wells Fargo risk systems such as Shared Risk Platform (SHRP), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), or Control Risk Analysis System (CRAS+)

  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance challenges and approaches: metadata, data quality, and data stewardship

  • Knowledge and understanding of international or global financial services
