NOOKSACK VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 506 CLASSIFIED JOB POSTING NOOKSACK VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL HEAD CUSTODIAN POSITION 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR General Job Description The responsibilities of the high school head custodian are to perform custodial services to keep school facilities and grounds clean and orderly and to perform related duties as required by the custodial work schedule, ensuring that facilities are secure, clean, and orderly, checking the buildings and grounds daily for repairs, vandalism, and other needs. The head custodian coordinates with evening custodians and provides direction and feedback as necessary. Qualifications and Responsibilities High School education or equivalent and three months of related work experience. Responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and grounds; checking the buildings and grounds daily for repair needs, vandalism, making sure the facilities are secure, or any other problems/needs. Responsible for reporting significant damages or concerns to the maintenance supervisor and building principal. Responsible for directing, training, assigning, and monitoring the evening custodians. Responsible for making sure the facilities are cleaned daily; ability to use common cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Responsible for minor maintenance, repair, painting and replacement as required. (I.e., wood, electric, plumbing, etc.) Ability to access the computerized heating system and adjust as needed Maintain updated knowledge of school policies and procedures that affect this position Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports. Knowledge of approved methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to use available technology to communicate via email. To send and receive instructions/feedback from evening custodian and/or supervisors. Ability to analyze and evaluate quality levels and provide appropriate feedback to evening custodians (both positive and growth-based feedback) Physical ability to do manual work associated with custodial duties including walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, etc. Physical ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Demonstrated ability to interact positively in interpersonal relationships in job situation beyond receiving work instructions, interacting with faculty, students and the public. Responsible for alarm call-outs Ability to organize self and be attentive to details Ability to maintain total confidentiality in all work assignments Other duties as assigned Terms of Employment This is a year-round position. Five days per week, 8.0 hrs/day, between 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (schedule may vary). Hourly rate of pay is $21.37 for the first six months (2018-2019 entry level) and then an hourly rate increase based upon the 2018-2019 salary schedule Benefits according to the SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
