The Lavatories & Water Waste Systems division of Rockwell Collins is the sole source lavatory provider for the Boeing 737 MAX program. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Test Engineer in our Lavatories & Water Waste Systems business located in Everett, WA.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Test Engineer plans, designs, and performs validation-verification programs from LRUs to entire water and waste systems. Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment. The position requires an ability to interpret, on a broad basis, the principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty.
Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination requirements.
Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design.
Performs RCCA, and develops remediation/solutions.
Initiates and maintains design data throughout the technical maturity phases.
Reviews project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy.
Generates artifacts and reports to provide objective evidence of compliance to requirements.
Participates in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations.
Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college/university and at least five (5) years related experience and/or training.
Experience in mechanical and fluid power control components.
Construction of test benches, test articles and prototypes.
Technical writing for reporting.
Preferred product knowledge base includes, but is not limited to, fluid handling equipment such as actuated or manual valves, pumping equipment, high speed blowers or fans, hydraulics, plumbing elements, thin-walled pressure vessels, and fluid/pneumatic seal designs.
Experience with manufacturing processes, but is not limited to machined elements, composites, injection molding, thermal forming, and sheet metal fabrications.
Working knowledge of aerospace materials, processes, and finishes.
Hands-on experience with assembly, troubleshooting, and testing electrical systems and components.
