Job Description and Responsibilities:
Coherent - Advanced Crystal Group has a position for a working manager to lead the Apps/NPI team. Responsibilities include: Planning and prioritization of projects, customer requests and R&D efforts; Interfacing with a large team and across departmental boundaries; Work load distribution and resource management; Frequent customer interaction; Participation in site’s development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people as well as establishing strategic plans and objectives. Coordination and timely completion and delivery of engineering requests (including material procurement, fabrication, polishing and coating).
Experience in managing NPI/Applications group as well as in-depth understanding of crystal physics, non-linear optics and laser physics are essential. Good understanding of bulk and coating materials performance limitations is needed. Background in technical drafting, costing, sourcing and routing creation desired.
Experience and skills required:
Good understanding of laser and nonlinear optics principles and material/light interaction
Strong communication skills
Industrial supervisory or management experience
Background in New Process/Product introduction to production
Background in customer care and managing customer requests
Strong project management
Capable of coordinating and executing on multiple projects / tasks
Ability to work independently and to interface with large teams, working across departmental boundaries
Good understanding of analytical equipment for optical/physical material characterization
Solid works, Labview, Macros for Macros for MS Excel
Education and Work Experience:
MS/PhD level in Material Science, Optics or related field required.
