Responsibilities

As a Aircraft Electrician, WG-2892-11, you will:

  • Analyze malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, computer data, and factory drawings
  • Remove and replace components or assemblies down to the lowest level authorized by depot
  • Perform organizational and intermediate level maintenance modifications as required
  • Modify and update electrical and environmental support equipment according to applicable technical publications
  • Perform precise and advanced wiring maintenance procedures on aircraft
  • Document maintenance actions and man-hour expenditures on maintenance forms and computer systems

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. MILITARY GRADES: E-3 to E-5

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: 2A6X6

Selectee will have one (1) year to obtain the required AFSC.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 57 in General area. ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position. The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

MILITARY POSITION: 177th Fighter Wing

THIS IS AN INDEFINITE POSITION: This position lasts for an unknown or unstated length of time and is not Permanent but may become Permanent.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires the Selectee to possess an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

Must have the following experiences: * Locating and tying in the electrical systems with the aircraft armament, electronics, and instrument systems * Adjusting and calibrating the components of the various electrical systems * Reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months of the following experiences: * Installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical systems and major substation components of electrical system * Diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy when complex relationships exists among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of all electrical units and systems * Making electrical repairs that require the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools * Setting up and operating computerized multiple circuit * Analyzing equipment in manual, semiautomatic, or automatic mode * Running existing and new (not fully debugged) diagnostic programs * Testing and analyzing aircraft electrical circuitry and interconnecting cabling of systems such as navigational computers, radar, and related equipment and to repair discrepancies.
