span style="text-decoration: underline;"SUMMARY/spanThe positionis for a National Service Officer at the Saginaw Area and Thumb area of Michigan, The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), State Council of Michigan, National Service Officer is appointed by the Michigan VVA State Council of Michigan, and serves as a Veterans Rrepsentative as recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As a trained and accredited National Service Officer, you will serve as the subject matter expert in all aspects of veterans benefits including VA Compensation, Pension, Education, and death benefits.emspan style="text-decoration: underline;"ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES/span/em Advises and aids veterans and or Dependents in presenting disability or pension claims for benefits under federal, states and local laws Reviews legislation, regulations, and precedents, studies veterans' medical report and services history to evaluate and determine validity of claim Obtains claimants Power of Attorney (POA) Prepares claim forms and briefs and assembles pertinant evidence Advises veterans on vocational and other matters, working in cooperation with Veterans Administration and other agencesspan style="text-decoration: underline;"QUALIFICATIONS/spanThe position requires U.S. Citizenshop, Preference will be given to Vietnam Veterans or other Veteran Eras, recipients, and Honorably Discharged veterans,span style="text-decoration: underline;"EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE/spanAssociates degree and/or sufficient documented vocational experience when coupled with formal education to substantially demonatrate ability to perform the minimum required duties as described elsewhere in this job descriptionspan style="text-decoration: underline;"POSITION/spanMust possess quaility MS Office Suite Skills (MS Word, Excell, Excess, Outlook, Power Point
