BSI Group Group Product Certification Director in Chiswick, London, United Kingdom
This role is responsible for developing and driving the BSI Product Certification business which includes our product testing and certification business and services certification, primarily using the BSI Kitemark and acting as a CE Notified Body, within the Group Assurance Stream. The role has P&L and leadership accountability for BSI’s Product Certification activities and is responsible for setting and executing the growth strategies for the Product Certification business; providing the leadership and drive necessary to ensure that the potential of the worldwide business across priority regions, sectors and markets is fully realised.
The role is pivotal for ensuring the delivery of targeted sustainable business growth in full coordination with the other Streams, providing an integrated Assurance offering, in line with the Group’s Strategic Plan and vision.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Develop and implement the Product Certification Strategic Plan with targets, gateways, key initiatives, KPI’s and metrics. This includes the management and development of the Kitemark brand.
Set effective priorities and specific implementation plans for the geographic regions for approval by the Executive as part of the BSI Group growth strategy, with a particular focus on China, US, Middle East, Australia and Central Europe.
Directly lead and support the Stream management team and regional Product Certification specialists in establishing and delivering business specific strategic goals that drive increased market penetration and significant profitable growth.
Diversify the business into new high growth product and service areas, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Certification of Financial and other services, Energy Management and others.
Maintain current business and develop new business at the expected level of profitability whilst continuously reinforcing BSI reputation for Trust and Integrity.
Collaborate with Regional Assurance COOs and local management teams to develop our product strategy, identify and assess new product opportunities, evaluate market potential to define revenues and sales targets, coordinating the selection of priorities and lead the launch as appropriate.
Be part of the Assurance Executive Leadership Team and contribute to the overall strategy and development of the BSI Assurance.
Shape the innovation agenda for Global Product Certification as part of Assurance Leadership Team, in coordination with the Group Innovation Director.
Monitor and manage (both directly and through the Regional COOs) the global performance of the Product Certification business, ensuring effective regional operational delivery, optimized and effective processes, supervising compliance to the relevant accreditations and authorizations
Effectively manage all key financial measures of the business; anticipating cost needs and all other aspects of planning, including the annual budgeting, forecasting and strategic review processes.
Develop new approaches to marketing and selling the company’s technical expertise, IP and product portfolio. Ensure that the Product Certification business develops sustainably and proactively markets their services to existing clients while attracting new clients and sectors.
Develop and maintain global market understanding through frequent global market and customer connections, leading participation to relevant industry forums and events
Build senior high-level relationships with accreditation bodies, regulators and clients to support existing business and develop potential growth opportunities.
Maintain significant links with Government and Legislative Bodies in order to understand changes in the operating environment, and where required, effectively lobby on BSI’s behalf. This includes the successful establishment of a parallel notified Body in The Netherlands in response to client needs post-Brexit.
Develop a strong leadership team capable of delivering an aggressive profitable growth strategy and lead the development and implementation of human resources strategies that will ensure the recruitment, development, engagement and retention of the highest calibre professionals and leaders at all levels of the business.
Evaluate and recommend acquisitions and actively assist in their integration. Prepare business cases as appropriate for investment/development.
Ensure the efficient and safe operations of BSI’s Testing facilities in Hemel Hempstead and Loughborough and management of third party Testing arrangements.
