UNC Department of Public Safety Postdoc Research Associate in Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Position Summary

Postdoctoral Research Associate position to investigate cellular, molecular and viral mechanisms of oncogenesis. Studies include regulation of the ubiquitin system in human B-lymphocytes immortalized in culture by the Epstein-Barr Virus. In-vitro findings are extended to pathologic consequences by generation, molecular characterization and treatment of human B-cell lymphomas in a unique humanized mouse model. Self-motivation and experience in cellular/molecular biology and biochemistry required.

Training Objectives: Competence for independent research in academic position and pharmaceutical or merging companies. Permanent residents may be eligible for support through the Integrated Training in Cancer Model Systems (ITCMS) grant from the National Cancer Institute U.S.A. Educational Requirements

PhD or MD cellular molecular biology or related field.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicant must be trained in basic research laboratory and proficient in tissue culture, immunohistochemical analysis and standard techniques including cloning, mammalian cell transfection and generation of stable cell lines. Solid record of research publications and written and oral communication skills are expected
