The Role:

As our Database expert, you will be part of a large DevOps team working on modernizing an enterprise-scale system, actively collaborating with Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, and development team members to create high-performance, scalable database solutions. You will be a key player in developing the vision and direction for large or complex initiatives, evaluating technologies and/or alternate approaches, working with stakeholders to estimate and design approaches, and support program-level trade-offs on priorities.

The position also requires someone with great collaboration skills with a strong technical background who can work and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to continually ensure the product is of the highest quality. The DB architect will also be able to work easily between legacy and next generation applications, providing technical guidance to all teams and peripheral products in an Agile environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the performance, tuning, scripting, and scalability for all the production databases supporting our APIs and production applications:

  • Design and develop database objects, tables, stored procedures, views and triggers

  • Provide performance optimization through query and stored procedure tuning and code/schema (indexes) refinements

  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution. Diagnose system failures to isolate the source of problems between equipment, software, and applications.

  • Take part in maintenance and bug fixing.

  • Assist with database upgrades and database backup tasks.

  • Evaluate new database technologies and tools to meet growing challenges.

  • Support business teams with SQL queries for analysis and reporting

Requirements:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in development working with large scale relational database clusters (Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2)

  • Experience with DB mirroring, copy node, high availability, disaster recovery

  • Experience coding complex stored procedures

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues etc.

  • Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools

  • Strong knowledge of database design principles

  • Must know SQL inside and out.

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to follow-up and follow-through on project actions and tasks

  • Ability to produce clean, well-documented, efficient, and standards-compliant code with an eye towards performance optimization and stability

  • Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts.

  • Proven analytical problem solving and debugging skills

Desired:

  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services, enterprise data management, information security, applications development, and cloud-based architectures.

  • Transact-SQL experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
